History Of Arrests

The good news is there hasn't been a lot of convictions or arrests for vaping.

But there has been a few and some relevent incidents worth keeping up to date with.

Teen Arrested
- March 7, 2024

"A teenager has been filmed scuffling with police outside a Coles as onlookers hurl abuse, in an arrest sparked when the young man refused to hand over a vape."

He was later released without charges laid.

Gold Coast Health prosecutes Macca’s worker over illicit nicotine! - June 7, 2022

The Magistrate fined the 24-year-old $1000 and ordered he pay $250 in costs. No conviction was recorded.

Perth man convicted for selling electronic cigarettes
- June 2014

Vincent Van Heerden, 33, was convicted by the Supreme Court in 2014 of breaching tobacco control laws by selling e-cigarettes online.

Van Heerden was fined $1,750 and ordered to pay $14,000 in court costs.

The landmark case effectively made the sale of the electronic smoking devices illegal in WA.
