The Alive Advocacy Movement recently conducted a detailed survey exploring vaping behaviors, key statistics, and policy implications. This complements existing evidence on vaping as a harm reduction tool for smoking cessation.
Reading between the lines of the survey, it appears that Australian vapers have not only been ignored in regards to the Australian Govt creating poor policy on these products, they have made it without understanding the real demographics of Australian vaping consumers.
The survey reveals for the first time that not only are the majority of vapers over the age of 30 and use them as a safer alternative to smoking, they are also feeling significant health improvements.
The figures not only conflict with the picture that health minister Mark Butler has been portraying in regards to the average age of vapers in Australia, the survey also shows how a legal market was turned into a black market dominant industry on the back of his policies.
Understanding the behaviors and motivations of adult vapers is crucial for developing informed and effective public health policies. The efforts of the ALIVE Advocacy Movement, through surveys and petitions, play a pivotal role in ensuring that the voices of adult vapers are heard, and that policies reflect the realities of vaping as a harm reduction tool.
As the vaping landscape continues to evolve, such initiatives are essential in balancing public health objectives with the needs and rights of individuals.
