Government

Let's understand how governments at all levels create laws and govern them in realation to tobacco harm reduction products including vaping products.

Here you will be able to deep dive into the current laws and those who are responible for such laws.

Federal Government

Current Federal Health Minister: Mark Christopher Butler
Ph. (02) 6277 7220 or Electorate Office: (08) 8241 0190
Email: Mark.Butler.MP@aph.gov.au 21

The federal government is influenced by the decisions of both the MPs and the Senators.

In regards to vaping legislation and regulations, generally speaking an MP will raise a bill and if it's agreed on it will usually go to the Senators to be debated and voted on.

Federal laws initiated by legislation and regulations usually require public input and from those who are the stakeholders in most cases. In the case of vaping, consumers are the most important stakeholders but are too often overlooked!

The following is a link to all Senators and MPs contact details and current known poistions on vaping/tobacco harm reduction where possible.

They all need to hear from vapers across Australia everyday!

Share you quit story and concerns with them, as they often rely on this to understand what is really happening at the grassroots (voters) level.

State Governments

State health leaders are generally in lock step with the federal Government regarding laws around vaping, however just like their federal counterparts, they need to hear from the keystake holders, ie. consumers and tobacco harm reduction advocates.
